[StopKillerRobots] 📢 SKR action guide: Global week of action 25-31 Oct. Human Control is Hanging by a Thread
Dear all, see below Stop Killer Robots (of which PI is a member) campaign ahead of the 7th review conference of the convention on conventional weapons (which will take place week of 20 November), when states will discuss whether to open the negotiations for a treaty on autonomous weapons. If you plan to take the action please reach out to Charlotte. All the best, Tomaso Tomaso Falchetta Global Advocacy Coordinator, Privacy International Web: www.privacyinternational.org Privacy International is a charity registered in England and Wales (1147471) and a company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales (04354366).
From 25-31 October 2026, Stop Killer Robots members can take part in the Regulate For Control: Human Control is Hanging by a Thread photo action - a dedicated week where campaigners around the world take coordinated photo actions in their cities and towns to raise public awareness of the dangers of autonomous weapons, to demonstrate the widespread and grassroots support for a treaty, and to alert the public that their country has the opportunity to take action on this issue next month at the Review Conference.
Explanation of the photo action: a group of people (big or small) will gather in front of legislative buildings or landmarks in their countries, holding [posters](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1CIyGpNMr-eoZlp0XGkrosg4yd2kBNaib?usp...), and connected by a piece of red ribbon or string to reinforce the “hanging by a thread” campaign message and to tease the upcoming Geneva acrobatic stunt. Campaigners can speak to people walking by about our goal and encourage passersby to take action by signing our petition - scanning the QR code on the posters. Photos from the actions around the world will be posted on the global SKR social media channels in the days leading up to the Review Conference in November.
To help organize these photo actions, please see this guide ( attached as PDF)
How to get started on planning your photo action:
-
Date: Choose a date between 25-31 October where you can gather other campaigners, friends, and community members to be part of the action
-
Location: Choose a public location, such as a legislative building, town square, or other landmark in your city/town to pose in front of
-
Gather materials:
-
[Printable posters](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1CIyGpNMr-eoZlp0XGkrosg4yd2kBNaib?usp...) - print several posters for campaigners to hold. You can tape or glue the posters to cardboard or other hard surface to make them easier to read. If you'd like to translate them into a different language, please see the [template instructions here](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QTcGxzFG__khZxMUS0SlN5U8X_YkNjUDcggrgulI...).
- Red ribbon or thick red string. Make sure the red ribbon or string is thick enough to see from afar in photos. -
Email [Charlotte](mailto:charlotte@stopkillerrobots.org) with the date & location of your action, so that it can be added to the [shared map](https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?hl=en&mid=1kwBp9psEOzhXpdL58llgaLVcQx...).
We aim to have as many photo actions as possible, so it doesn’t matter if you have 2, 20, or 200 people participating - it will really make a difference to show that we have support for a treaty from all around the world!
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or need further information or explanation!
In solidarity, Charlotte --
