Dear all, see below Stop Killer Robots (of which PI is a member) campaign ahead of the 7th review conference of the convention on conventional weapons (which will take place week of 20 November), when states will discuss whether to open the negotiations for a treaty on autonomous weapons. If you plan to take the action please reach out to Charlotte. Continuing our work - next meeting!
by Aljosa Ajanovic 16 Oct '26

16 Oct '26

Dear all, I hope you’re doing well! Apologies for the delay in following up after our first meeting (find the notes here: https://hub.edri.org/index.php/s/fraFo99FirmxQYW) but times have been *extremely* busy. Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to attend a couple of gatherings on this topic, which have helped me reflect on how we can continue our work. After talking to Andreea, we’d like to propose that we organise a *two-hour working session in November*. Here’s a poll to find a date that works for everyone: https://framadate.org/polls/412a03e58d889cc9875e Our proposal is to use the session to focus on: 1. *Agreeing on our common principles.*We’ll prepare a short draft list of *common principles and areas of agreement*, drawing on the proposed scope we shared and the discussion we had in our first meeting. We’ll circulate this in advance so everyone has time to comment and suggest amendments. During the session, we’ll discuss and refine those proposals, develop an overarching narrative, and agree on a) key messages and b) red lines. The goal will be to establish a *shared argumentative foundation*and agree on the *structure of the policy paper*. 2. *Dividing drafting tasks.*We’ll identify the different areas of work, our needs and distribute tasks (including drafting) throughout the group. 3. *Agreeing on a realistic timeline.*We’ll discuss what is feasible given everyone’s capacity and agree on a timeline for developing our joint position. We should also factor in the possibility of organising *an in-person working session* *in Q1* to take the discussion further and work intensively on it. In general, the aim will be to leave the session with clear shared principles and direction, an agreed structure for the paper, and a realistic plan for moving forward. We aim to circulate the *list of common principles* a week before the meeting. In the meantime, if you have any thoughts or suggestions, please feel free to share them here. Also taking the opportunity to share the work that Davide shared with us in the meeting: https://mitl.infonodes.org/?lang=en . It is a /very cool/ platform developed by info.nodes w support from Privacy International, and which sheds light to the money trails between individuals, investors (both EU funds and private investors) and companies, form start-ups to defense giants, powering the defense tech sector. Looking forward to continuing this work together! Cosmetology: Transforming Beauty and Personal Care Through Innovation and Expertise
by anujmrfr1＠gmail.com 01 Oct '26

01 Oct '26

The Cosmetology Market represents a dynamic and rapidly evolving segment of the beauty and personal care industry, driven by growing consumer demand for professional beauty services, advanced aesthetic treatments, and innovative product offerings that enhance appearance and well-being. This market encompasses a broad range of services and products including hair care, skincare, nail care, makeup application, and non-invasive aesthetic procedures delivered through salons, spas, clinics, and retail channels. A major emerging trend is the integration of technology into cosmetology services, with artificial intelligence-powered skin analysis tools, virtual try-on platforms, and personalized treatment recommendations transforming how consumers discover and experience beauty services. The expansion of medical aesthetics within cosmetology is creating new opportunities for practitioners, with treatments such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and laser therapies bridging the gap between traditional beauty services and clinical dermatology. Investment in sustainable and clean beauty products is gaining traction, with consumers increasingly prioritizing environmentally responsible brands that offer cruelty-free, organic, and ethically sourced formulations. The growing emphasis on inclusivity and diversity is driving demand, with cosmetology brands expanding product ranges to cater to diverse skin tones, hair types, and gender identities. Additionally, the dual focus on both professional services and at-home treatments is expected to enhance the overall market landscape, as practitioners offer expert services while retail products enable consumers to maintain results between visits. Do you think at-home beauty devices will eventually replace professional cosmetology services? The integration of digital platforms for booking, consultations, and product purchases is transforming how cosmetology services are marketed and delivered, with social media playing a pivotal role in shaping beauty trends and consumer preferences. By 2035, the cosmetology market will be more personalized, technology-driven, and inclusive than ever before, reflecting evolving beauty standards and technological innovations in the beauty and personal care industry. FAQs What is driving growth in the cosmetology market? Key drivers include growing consumer demand for professional beauty services and aesthetic treatments, rising disposable incomes enabling spending on premium beauty experiences, increasing influence of social media on beauty trends, expansion of medical aesthetics within cosmetology practices, and growing emphasis on personalized and inclusive beauty solutions across diverse consumer segments. How is technology shaping the cosmetology market? Technology is transforming the cosmetology market through AI-powered skin analysis tools, virtual try-on platforms, and personalized treatment recommendations that enhance consumer engagement and service delivery. Digital booking platforms and social media marketing are also expanding access to cosmetology services, positioning the market for continued growth as innovation accelerates across the beauty industry.
